Following on from the previous rumour, Apple have released an eMac replacement. Rather than being a unique machine, Apple have released an education configuration for the 17 inch iMac. Priced at $1428 inc GST ($1299 ex GST), compared with $1,799.60 inc GST EDU price ($1999 non-EDU) on the base iMac config.

However, the education configuration is cut-down from the retail version – integrated graphics rather than dedicated, no bluetooth, no Front Row remote, no DVD burner. Still a v.nice machine for a computer lab or the classroom.

The education configuration iMac is only available to educational institutions, not even available via the Apple online education store.
