The ABC has launched a new ABC News site. They have an intro to their new site.

First impressions? Nice. Easier on the eyes than the previous site. I particularly like that on the photos associated with a news story, you can enlarge. It really annoys me on the SMH that you often can’t get larger versions of the story image. The in-page video player is swish. You can right-click and go full screen.

On the negative, there aren’t that many words on the front page of ABC News – just lots of headlines.

It’s great to see web standards being followed, with the site validating as XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
