Toongabbie Anglican Church Well, the time has finally come to launch the new site. A “soft launch”, by which I mean the old site will remain active for a while.

So, go check out the new site. Feel free to be critical and leave comments here. Bugs are welcome on the development blog.

As I noted on the site, in the coming weeks, I’ll post (over there) some articles about using this new site. For now, a list of some of the new features to explore:

  • The Bible Talks section has received the most attention. You can now easily find older talks and talks group by category. Bible talk text is printable straight from your browser. Audio from Sunday Night Church Bible Talks will now be available on the site. Even better, you can subscribe to the Podcast of talks from Sunday Night Church.
  • The Weekly Blurb, Online Features and Mission Blog have been combined on the new site into a single Blog. For some blog entries you will be able to make comments.
  • The one year reading plan page has been improved to include a calendar to navigate past and future readings.
  • You can register as a “member” of the site, which allows for quicker commenting on the Blog.

In related news… last night I upgraded the site to version 1.4 of Expression Engine. And spent a couple of hours fixing a number of problems cause by changes to the way EE handles conditionals (ie, “if” statements). This was not so much EE’s fault, as how hard I had pushed the conditionals to work. Anyway, all fixed now.

The site would have launched earlier today, but there is a bug in version 1.4 contact form. So, I had to put together a non-EE based contact form for the time being.

Oh, and I am still interested in what RSS/Podcast software you are using.
