Syncing my mobile

When I bought my current mobile (Ericsson T630) a few years ago – yep I’m not very up-to-date on mobile technology – I quickly found the annoyance that is syncing a mobile to your computer.
It seems like it should be an easy operation, two devices communicating and sharing information.
I bought a cable, installed the software, and then everything just seemed complicated. Syncing was messy and there were lots of options and merging and awful software. I never used the camera on my phone, cause I couldn’t figure how to get the images off the phone onto my PC.
The other night, it occurred to me that I had never tried to sync my mobile to my Mac. So, I connected the cable to the phone and a USB port. Nothing happened. Then I remembered Bluetooth, on both devices I turned it on. Immediately they became “friends”.
Now to sync. Launched iSync (standard Mac OS X Utility), it gave me some very simple options, and within a minute or two my whole Address Book was on the phone. With the flip of another checkbox over in Sharing I was able to send images from the phone to my computer. So easy. iCal synced to Phone as well, it even synced calendars that I have subscribed to (e.g. my Google Calendar).
I’ve experienced “it just works” on the Mac.

My Sony Ericsson K610i syncs fine with Outlook 2003. Horses for course I guess.

I had a similar experience with my Sony Ericsson K601i AND Palm TX. Both devices worked beautifully on Mac without the need to install any additional software, whereas PC was riddled with extra software, complex syncs and errors. Still haven’t been able to get bluetooth working properly on PC either.
