One Laptop Per Child

One of my uni lecturers, a fan of graphics calculators, often talked of how they would be replaced soon by a very low price laptop designed for schools that the big brands were developing.

I understood the concept, a cut down laptop, minimal storage, sufficient power to run the pre-loaded programs – but I hadn’t actually seen anything about such a device actually being in development.

Well, here it is… MIT have launched a research project to design and manufacture a $100 laptop, targeted at school children. [via Gadgetopia and SMH.

This development could totally revolutionise personal computing.
