A new viral campaign…

In case you’re wondering, a viral campaign seems to refer to the use of word-of-mouth (even through email) to advertise a product. The most recent example being the big ad. Today, I’m very tentatively connecting some dots…

There is an Apple Event on September 7 that may release something interesting.

More specifically to Australia, according to an advertising guru I just heard on 702, a new viral campaign will happen in Australia in the next couple of days.

Is there a connection between the two? Certainly, in my mind, if Apple were to release a new version of the iPod it would be an excellent time to finally launch iTunes Australia. So might Apple use a viral marketing campaign in Australia to launch iTunes? Well, they’ve made some good ads in the past.

All speculation…
