Going into school today, I was looking forward to seeing a new digital projector and Interactive Whiteboard installed in my classroom.

A company I had previously used to purchase European Railway tickets emailed me about a competition.

I mentioned a little while ago that my credit card was compromised. Since then I’ve been issued a new card. This follow-up looks at a few things that may help someone who has this happen to them in the future.

Have you noticed how everyone is now an expert in everything?

Term 3 (all 11 weeks of it) has begun…

A week or so ago, I attended a seminar for Maths teachers. The presenter frustrated me with his poor presentation skills, and so as not to become completely distracted, I wrote out a list of things to be mindful of when presenting.

I’ve noticed that my fingers seem to remember that I’ve copied (Ctrl+c) something and it’s waiting to be pasted (Ctrl+v).

One search string that continues to bring visitors to this site is something like “amazing race channel 7”. So, here’s another post to add to Google’s index.

University teacher training can only teach you so much, there are many aspects of being a teacher that university does not prepare you for.

Looking at the NSW Teachers Federation Calendar for 2007, I noticed a public holiday on 7 September 2006 for APEC.

Whilst it is school holidays, for me this first week will be preparation for next term. My plan was to spend four days preparing, but with a pile of procrastination on Monday, I’ll probably add an extra day.

Despite starting a new career this year as a maths teacher, this blog has hardly mentioned it, partly because talking about my current employment is not really something I intended for this blog. The other reason, is that I haven’t really collected my thoughts about this change in career.

Having returned from just over a week away, here is what I missed (or have to catch up on) in the wired world.

Hell Fortnight continues.

As an engineering student undertaking a humanities degree (B.Teach) the hardest part is making the word count.

I’ve just entered, the affectionately dubbed, “Assignment Hell Fortnight”. Four assignments, each worth 50%, all due in a period of 5 days… and to top it off, an exam shortly after that.

The SMH published an article in their Technology section titled Cancer risk for country callers. Oh no… Australia has a lot of rural mobile phone users… so they must be at risk… right?

Finally cleaning out some stuff from the garage. These university textbooks are for sale at textbookexchange.com.au. From Buy Books do a search for “Seller’s code from poster”, where my code is 00031787 (include the zeros).

I had a moment to write, because my computer has slowed down a little.

The plan was to build a new desk, ready for when I started uni. That didn’t happen. However, a few weeks late, the new home-made desk has been installed, and it’s great.
